Red Sox Day, or is it?

Today is (well, was supposed to be) opening day for the Sox. (Postponed now due to rain) The preschool asked that all kids come in with their sox gear on or at least in blue and/or red. My son arrived...in a blue shirt. The poor child has no Sox shirt nor hat.
Why?
I married a New Yorker...
