I think I see a light

Hey I met a friend for lunch yesterday. Outside. In the sun. Surrounded by (socially distanced surrounded by) others enjoying the same. Elderly woman was waiting a bit. Masked. Enjoying warmth. When another elderly woman showed up with a bouquet of flowers. They embraced. And then oohed and ahhhed over the flowers. And then they caught up like long lost friends. I couldn’t help but watch the whole interaction. Another table had nanny (presumably)(because she said let’s take a selfie for mommy. But could be aunt. Or BFF. Or partner. But whoever it was...) two year old boy donned in superhero gear and Nana. “Look nana. We chooses a table with a big brella. It’s blue “ “Look nana at my big bagel” “Look nana at my blue shirt . It’s like the blue brella and blue sky” This went on and on with Nana delighted by each observation, chiming in with nana-isms of love. I couldn’t help but watch the whole interaction. A birthday gathering happened. A solo lunch by a woman and her laptop. Two teenage...

Today's PSA

One day I see a light at the end of this shit show. The next I’m back to thinking it’s never ending. Anyone else? School is reopening “full time” for my kids (semi full time) and believe me, they (me) am ready. We are all on our way to being able to be vaccinated. Now I’m worried about new strains. Now I’m worried to cruise (and I was never a worried cruiser. Remember noro virus outbreaks can happen anywhere) (I don’t need to hear cruise judging) But covid? Different story. Will they require vaccines permanently? As of now they are and I read all these posts of people who are pissed about this. Angry they’re being forced to vaccinate. Last I heard no one was forcing you to take a cruise? He said. She said. Soooo much anger these days. I had to turn off the news last night because I couldn’t stand it anymore. The hatred. The blame. The “other “ side. I’m naive I guess but I just don’t understand how it’s so hard just to be respectful? Move on if you don’t agree with a comment. Choose an...

Covid-ersary

Well hello one year ago covid-ersary. We have come a long way from Advil being drained from the shelves, hoarding toilet paper and making our own Lysol wipes- not to mention homemade hand sanitizer and turning bandanas into masks. My memory of life before lock down was sitting at youngest’s high school performance of “Addam’s family”. We sat next to people in the auditorium - side by side- yet we know we were in for a lockdown- presumably a few weeks (??!!) Youngest gave an amazing performance as LURCH and the cast was so phenomenal- it still saddens me that they weren’t able to perform for anyone, other than their immediate families. We cancelled our scheduled April vacation cruise (although at that point in time we were still unsure was it the right thing to do? Maybe we would still be able to go after things calmed down ) and then the cleaning, purging, bingeing, puzzling and banana-ing began. My spices were organized and I was enjoying life with a new puppy. (Read: wanting to give...
